OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 10/05/09 — The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, today announced the appointment of Dr. Bernard Prigent to the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a three-year term.
“Dr. Prigent brings extensive pharmaceutical research industry experience to CIHR’s Governing Council,” said Minister Aglukkaq. “His understanding of research and development partnerships will be a valuable asset.”
Dr. Bernard Prigent is Vice President and Medical Director of Pfizer Canada. He has worked on the clinical development and commercialization of new medicines in a variety of therapeutic areas, including cardiology, respiratory medicine, infectious disease, rheumatology, urology, neurology and oncology.
He holds an MD from the Faculte de medecine Xavier-Bichat, Paris VII de l’Universite de Paris and an MBA from Henley Business School at the University of Reading in the UK.
